Innocent imperialists

Considering the mess in Afghanistan, after we had bombed the Taliban in October 2001 into disarray , had we pursued them immediately with  the scale of force that we were saving for helpless Iraq, we might have so shattered the Taliban and  caught their leaders and bin Laden, since they didn’t leave Afgan teritory immediately.  We actually had trops over the border at a base in Uzbekistan.  But Gen. Franks saved them ‘intervention’.  There never were more than 10,000 troops in Afghanistan till well into 2003 And the Iraq invasion.
